The York County Detectives are employed by the District Attorney's Office. They are certified police officers in Pennsylvania and all have years of police experience.
County Detectives assist municipal, state and federal law enforcement in York County with major crimes investigations including narcotics, child abuse, sex crimes, computer crime against children, and homicides. They investigate many other types of crimes including domestic violence, auto theft, insurance fraud, election law violations, and private criminal complaints. They also assist the members of the DA's office with preparing cases for court.
They conduct polygraph examinations and coordinate the efforts of the York County Forensic Team. They also provide expert testimony in narcotics cases for preliminary hearings at the Magisterial District Judge’s level and trials and other court proceedings at the Common Pleas Court level. York County Detectives specialize in child abuse, domestic violence, juvenile crimes, auto theft, insurance fraud, narcotics, and violent fugitive apprehension.
County Detectives work joint investigations with federal, state and other local agencies and assist any law enforcement agency from outside York County when the case involves jurisdiction in this county.
The Drug Task Force coordinates the enforcement of drug law violations with Municipal, State and Federal Agencies. The Drug Task Force trains both county and municipal personnel in the conduct of drug investigations. The Task Force maintains and utilizes approved electronic surveillance equipment in support of investigations, seizes and forfeits assets of drug dealers as provided by law, and coordinates drug investigations in York County with state and federal drug enforcement agencies.
Forensic Team provides a professional crime scene unit to identify, document, collect, and package forensic evidence at a major crime scene. Forensic Lab is a processing lab where evidence can be processed prior to shipment to a laboratory testing facility. Items are examined / processed to determine if possible identifiable evidence is present.
