Judicial Center Security
Information
You will be subject to electronic screening when
you enter the building, and you may be searched if the electronic screening is
not sufficient. Please remove ALL items from your pockets, belts with metal
buckles, and other metallic items, and place them in a plastic tray BEFORE you
walk through the electronic screening device. This will minimize the chance of
being searched. Tell the guard about metal braces or metallic implants BEFORE
you walk through the electronic screening device. You may then be “scanned” by
hand instead of being asked to go back through the screening line again.
You are not permitted to bring electronic devices into the York County Judicial
Center. This includes cell phones, pagers, PDAs, Blackberries, etc. (Lawyers
with a Supreme Court ID card may be permitted to bring their own cell phones and
PDAs into the Judicial Center, but may lose this privilege if they are found
bringing in electronic devices for others.)
For a complete list of prohibited items, see:
http://www.york-county.org/departments/courts/Prohibited_Items.pdf.
Weapons, firearms, and illegal substances may be confiscated and you may be
subject to criminal prosecution if you attempt to bring them into the building.
You cannot leave your electronic devices with the guards. You will be required
to leave them outside the building. Save time and hassle by leaving these
devices at home or in your car or at your attorney’s office.
