John C. Rudy Park Title
143 acres of sports and history located near Emigsville.  Administrative Offices and Maintenance Headquarters are located in the stone house built in 1798, a barn constructed in 1810 and numerous other buildings.  The land was donated in 1973 by George B. Rudy and Viola Rudy Williams in memory of their grandparents, John and Mary Rudy.

Features:
  • Administration Offices - The York County Department of Parks and Recreation currently maintains over 4,000 acres of land in eight parks for your enjoyment.  It is one of 43 County Government agencies and is governed by the York County Board of Commissioners.
  • Pavilion Rentals - Eleven pavilions can be rented for a nominal fee. Capacity ranges from 50 - 200 persons. Located near parking lots and restrooms.  All are ADA accessible. Gazebos are available for $15 per hour or $45 per day.

  • Softball Fields - Three fields are available.  Charge $10.00 per hour or $80.00 per day to reserve for games.  Teams can "tentatively" reserve fields.  To finalize the reservation full payment of all fees must be made within 3 weeks (21 days).  If payment is not received within 21 days, the tentative reservation will be cancelled.  Please pay by cash, check or credit card.
  • Soccer Fields - Five soccer fields are available at $10.00 per hour or $80.00 per day. volleyball at RudyInformation for payment and reservations same as Softball fields.   Fields #1, #2,  #3, and #4 are closed during "wet conditions".
  • Horseshoe Pits - Located near the pavilions, bring your own horseshoes.
  • Sand Volleyball Court - Three courts are located near pavilions.  Play should be limited to one hour if another group is waiting.
  • Multi-Purpose Trail - There is an approximately 2 mile paved loop open to biking, hiking, jogging and rollerblading.  Dog owners are reminded to clean up after pets.  Maps of the trails are now available in .PDF format.  If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or 5.0, you will need to download it first.  Then click on the words GET MAP and print a map of the park and its trails.   • 5K Cross Country Course - Enjoy running a 5 kilometer grass course that takes you to nearly every corner of the park.  It is the site of the annual York County High School Cross Country Championship held every October, as well as several college events.
  • Canine Meadows - Off-leash dog area

  • Display Garden - Penn State Master Gardeners Display garden #1evaluate and display some of the very best plants available to Pennsylvania gardeners and landscapers.  The garden is open to the public during regular Park hours.  Visit the Pennsylvania Gardener Selects web site. 


Special Events:
  • Bumps & Berms BMX Track -BMX racing Motocross bicycle racing is offered on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.  There are also several national events held every year.  The track can only be used during ABA sanctioned events.  These races are sponsored by the Bumps & Berms BMX Club.   • York County Astronomical Society - The public can view various celestial objects once a month free of charge year around at the observatory in the center of the park. A star watch schedule can be obtained from their web site at www.ycas.org. Also a listing of their open houses are found in our calendar listing.

  • Display Garden Tours -  For Groups contact Penn State Extension at 840-7408 to arrange special group tours of the Master Gardener Pennsylvania Gardener Selects Trial Garden. There will be a Display Garden Tour for the general public on August 2, 2008 from 9 a.m. to noon.
